Grand Prix and Gold in a twin pack: DEMNER, MERLICEK & BERGMANN scores another win for MINI at Epica.
After winning at the recently awarded Grand Prix at the Golden Drum festival, the creatives of DEMNER, MERLICEK & BERGMANN have yet another reason to celebrate: At last night’s Epica Awards in Berlin, the agency received repeated gold in the category ‘Automobiles’ for ‘MINI Traffic Light’, and, in addition to that award, also the Grand Prix in the category ‘Outdoor’. Overall, a total of four Grand Prix are awarded at the Epica Awards.
The MINI Traffic Lights were rolling boards throughout Vienna’s high-traffic intersections. These were perfectly synchronized with the traffic lights next to them. So any time the traffic light would change color, the MINI shown changed its color as well. From blazing red over volcanic orange to British racing green, and over again. An amusing distraction for waiting drivers – and a significantly enhanced perception of the advertised cars.
The Epica Awards are being awarded since 1987 and are among the internationally renowned creative awards in the industry.
Francesco Bestagno, Creative Director of the campaign and DMB Board Member: ‘This is already the second time we get an award for this campaign. The fact that we could prevail against 75 countries with over 4000 submissions, coming from such a small country like Austria, with such a small car, brings us great joy. Of course this incredibly strengthens the faith in good ideas and motivates.’
